Mini Criss Cross Coffee Card

This is such a girlie card.  I'm thinking Starbucks is just the ticket for a sweet birthday girl. 

I am actually playing around with designs for Christmas. I can't wait for the new cattie, so I can get started!

It's difficult to see all the glitter so I took a few angles for you.

I haven't used the piercing technique in a while.  It was refreshing to get back on track this month.

The inside card is about 1/8" shorter in width which allows for extra room to add a gift card.  (It measures 2 1/4"x 3 1/4")

This mini criss-cross card measures 3"x3 1/2".  To make, you need a strip 3"x 10 1/2".  Score it at 3 1/2" and 7".  You then need to cut the outside panels at a diagonal.  I used these dimensions in order to get 2 out of a page, or 4 from a 12x12 sheet.

Comfort of Coffee

I adore a good cup a joe.  Coffee is right up there with stamping.  ;)

Anyway, I have been playing around with some designs for Christmas.  Yes, I am already planning Christmas!

I meant to get these posted a couple days ago, but sadly, one of my favorite people I've ever known had passed.  My cousin, by marriage, at 30 years old after 3 transplants lost his battle with cystic fibrosis.  He was an amazing man, and loved by all who knew him. 

Anyway, tonight I'm playing catch up for you.  :)

This first card is one of my favorite.  I hate sometimes that you can't see how cute these are in person.  The texture and dimension just makes this card.  I roughed the edges to distress it.  I'm not tyically a pastel person, but this is a good spring set. 

The inside has a pocket to insert a gift card, note, or photo.  Personally, I am thinking Starbucks.  ;) 

Next I made a quick card with layers and paper piercing. I added a few pearls for that 'pop'.

The inside is just as simple as the front.

This card I love.  It is simple.  The scallop circle is one of my favorite.  The ribbon adds such a softness.

Another scallop card with a touch of glitter and a few dimensionals make it simply fun.  This would be a great design for any girl- ice cream, flowers, baby or butterflies come to mind.

I made the inside to mimic the front to add some quick cuteness.

Even the inside looks nice.  Sometimes it just takes a simple touch to make something beautiful.

Proud Peacock

Quick post tonight.  I am currently rearranging some rooms.  My boys decided to share a room, so I have extra space.  We are wanting one more baby, so I have quite a bit of stuff and I decided to make an "un"baby room for when friends come over until we need the space. 

I thought I'd share a swap I received on Saturday.  This is Proud Peacock from the new Summer Mini Catalog (pg 14)  It's a fun little set. 

I don't know how well you can see the coloring, but there is some Dazzling Diamonds on it to make it sparkle.

Cottage Garden Gift

This is my first milk carton project.  I am excited to use this some more.  It is great for favors and treats.  It measures about 1 1/2" wide x 4" tall.

I just used a little clip to hold it closed at the top.  I went ahead and glued the bottom, but I'm wondering if there's a way to leave it open? 

I love this Cottage Garden set.  I paired it with the coordinating DSP, Sunny Garden.

Science Party Invite

I shared this a few posts ago, and I wanted to update it, but I thought I'd share the inside as well. 

Party Planning Tip:

I love the colors here, and when I get to the party pics, you'll see why.  I based the color choice on the plates I used.  I have found after a few years of party planning that if you pick your theme, especially plates first, then its easier to design everything else.

I found a cute little science guy pic that I was able to resize, cut out and then color.  It was a little work, but I only needed a handful of them.   Everything else I free handed.

  I couldn't find template, so I drew up another one.  One is in pieces so you can see the two colors.  The reason I decided to make 2 parts that only slightly overlap was because if they were not lined up perfectly, the white part would show under the color.

2 Tags Birthday Box

Hey friends!

Sorry about the delay.  I ended up having surgery April 1st and it slowed me down a bit.  I am recovering well and excited to share some Summer Mini goodies. 

I thought I'd share my last swap with you today.  These darling boxes are pretty simple to make, and are such a fun idea for favors and small gifts.  They measure about 3"x2"x2". 

   
Instructions:

• Cut:  To make you will need 2 pre-cut tags, and 2 pieces of CS measuring 2 1/2" x 2 3/4". 
• Score:  The box is 2" tall, so you will need to score the side pieces 1/2" on both of the 2 3/4" sides, and on one of the 2 1/2" sides.
• Assemble:  Glue the two-tags bottoms together.  Attach the side tabs, leaving the bottom flap to fold in.  Fold Box up and glue bottom first, and then remaining sides.  Gently push in to crease sides in order to tie box top together. 

(I hope this makes sense.  Let me know if you have questions.)

Then you embellish!  I think these are great for so many occasions.

Happy Birthday To Me!

I was so happy to find a card from Stampin' Up in the mail today.  Ironically today is my husband's birthday, mine's not for a few days.  This was a very nice surprise. 

This card was created using My Digital Studio software.  I love updated downloads available and can't wait to get more.  The Rhinestone on the I just adds the right amount of bling. 

One more reason I love being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator!

Science Lab Party

I just held my son's 5th bithday party and it was a riot! 

He had asked me for a science party, which has to be one of the more difficult parties I've ever thrown.  The kids all had a blast.  (All 18 of them!)  Call me crazy, having that many children in one room, but it went well.

This is invitation I designed.  There's not a whole lot to do with science, but I'll add a photo album of the party once I get the pics edited.   I free-handed the bottles, and used my white gel pen to make bubbles.  The wire was just an old scrap I had.

Time to Fall Back!

Don't forget to set your clocks back!  We gain an hour today... mine usually ends up sleep.  But what mother doesn't appreciate that!

Time is flyin' by this year!  I can't believe my youngest is almost 3 now! 

I've been working on invitations this weekend and thought I'd share them today.

We are having 2 parties for him this year.  The first one I decided to have in the morning because young kids are happier in the morning.  So we will have donuts and brunch items.
 


  I didn't use any SU supplies here, so let me know if you have any questions.   One thing I did one the first invitation was use little car webdings in place of spaces, which I thought looks cute.

Spotlight Birthday

Good evening!

I have been out most of the day and really didn't plan on it.  It's been a good day, considering the dog days of summer.  My kids keep me on my toes, that's for sure!  I hope you're having a good day as well. 

This is sort of my twist on the Spotlighting technique.  I think this stamp is so cute!  I was trying to make a masculine card.  How do you think I did?  It's a pretty basic card.  I was going to add a ribbon behind the scallop and forgot.  I think it turned out sweet anyway.

Shoot!  I should have taken a side view so you could see the layers.  The bag is popped up and real cute!

Birthday Bags and a Spongy Trick

My, my!  I can't stand this summer heat.  I've been joking around that it's so humid my eyeballs are fogging up!  I just got in from pulling weeds in my garden.  It's the first time I've gardened since I was young and I was so worried I'd pull out my veggies, I didn't weed it for a long time!  I've got some green beans growing and the carrots (I pulled up by accident.) are so cute and little.  I still have tons more to weed this weekend, but hopefully we'll be eating yummy fresh veggies soon!

I've been renovating my house along with this color renovation, and as I clean out my rooms I'm finding fun organization tricks.  I thought I'd share one tonight.  It's quick, easy and inexpensive!  

So my sponges always drive me crazy.  I don't have a drawer thingy that will fit my markers, so they are stored with my ink pads. (I'll get a pic later.)  Then my sponges were so mixed together in a drawer it drove me crazy when I wanted the right one.  I knew I wanted to label them.  (I think I saw that idea on Angie's site at Chic'n Scratch.)  I used my Dymo to print little name labels, but I love the color tabs! 

Anyway, I LOVE sponging, so I want them accessible, so I thought I'd give Velcro a shot and voila!  It works beautifully!  At first I was going to attach them to the side of my shelf, but the idea of a clipboard sounded wonderful!  I tried it out, and I must say I do think we have a winner! 

Seven sponges fit in a row, which bummed me out a little because I wanted to keep my groups of ten together, but all my colors will easily fit on the board.  (I'll show you what it looks like when I'm finished.)  I hope you have fun making your own!

Gee, I guess I'm in a talkative mood tonight.  Sorry about that!  On to my card.

Birthday Flowers

My, has it been a long day!

My day began with my tire blowing out on the highway, and ended by taking my son to Urgent Care because he hurt his little ear.  His ear lobe looks broken, it's awful!  I hope you all are doing better!  I can't wait to grab a warm cup of coffee and relax for a bit.

With that being said, I tried to stamp and I guess I'm just too worked up, because card after card I wasn't pleased.  I almost like this one, so I'll give a little eye candy tonight.

This is a Summer Mini set called Watercolor Trio.  I used the fun Scallop punch and Scallop Corner punch.  I tried adding some ribbon, but it seems off balance to me.  (The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and Crumb Cake.)

Stamp Crazy Fun!

Stamp Crazy Girls is my upline's group name (BTW).  And these were the adorable projects we made last month.  I was excited to go again today!  Local ladies, if you'd like to join me to check it out let me know!!  I'm always looking for new team members to mentor! These projects feature new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog which ends April 30th.  I simply can't pick a favorite!  This is just a darling group of cards.

These first three feature Sweet Pea Stitched Felt, which is much cuter in person.  The sentiments from Well Scripted and Little angel are also too cute.  All the projects use Sweet Pea DSP as well.

The technique used on this card is faux suede.  This technique adds a soft, subtle dimension to your projects.  The large flowers are the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch.

I simply love the bird clip!  It's the Extra Large Two Step Bird Punch. (An SU exclusive!)  That darling envelope is a Small Square Glassine Envelope on page 19.  It holds a Sending Love Notes "Kisses" inside.

Birthday Balloons

I made this for my DH a couple weeks ago for his birthday.  This card turned out great!  The photo doesn't capture the essence.  The white on the end sort of tricks your eye- it looks like one continuous piece, when it actually it the add-on. 

I wish I had ordered the Pinking Hearts Border Punch already, because it would be perfect here.  I tried to keep with a dots theme to coordinate with the ribbon, but I thought the eyelet border would seem too feminine.  One Rhinestone Brad seemed enough bling.

My DH has gotten me back up and running.  I was trying to use our first computer- from the 90's.  It just wasn't working.  So he was kind enough to fix me up!  I just found my Photoshop, and I'm back in business.  I have decided to make a few new changes as well.  I will take it one step at a time because of my run of dumb luck! 

Today I am 30 {again ;) }  I've had a wonderful day, and just finished up my swap for this weekend which is appropriately a birthday card!

  I just love Crazy For Cupcakes!  Who doesn't love cupcakes?  I decided to try my hand at a pop-up card, and it was fun.  I can't wait to make more of these!

Hey there!  I wanted to make a card that would work for him or her.  This is bright for teenagers.  Oh, I think I CASEd someone at Splitcoast.  Enjoy Every Moment has got to be one of my most used sets.  I use it for scrapbooking and card making.  I just love it!

I used Rose Red, Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay.  The touch of ribbon matches the embossed Rose quite well.  I used the Word Window punch, and Festive Favorites 2 Buttons.  One tip to keep it simple:  If you CASE this card, The Bermuda mats are the same size (4 1/4 x 2 1/4).

Inside: I kept it simple.  The greeting is from Heard from the Heart.  I love that you could change up the colors and this card could be for a variety of occasions, perhaps a wedding or graduation.

Spongebob Squarepants!

Afternoon ladies!

I have a quick post today.  It has been such a Monday!  Rain and all. 

I made this cute CASE the other day.  I remember seeing one on Splitcoast.  I needed a quick card for a little boy and whipped this out in under 10 minutes.

It was just circle punches, with some scrap for teeth! 

I used 3/4" circles for the spots, 1" circle nose and the white of the eyes is 1 3/4".  I'll have to double check the mouth.

I used Smarty Pants Stamp set inside.  Oh, the CS I used was Whisper White, Basic Black, Yoyo Yellow, and Tempting Turquoise.

Build-A-Bear & CuttleBug Tip!

Good Morning Ladies!

I'm sorry I haven't been around the past couple days.  I have been busy preparing for my open house.  I was disappointed when my endo woke me up this morning and now I have to postpone it until October 3rd. 

Anyway, I discovered something really cool this week.

I can't believe it took me this long to figure out, but Big Shot dies fit in the Cuttlebug!  I knew the Sizzlits would.  I just had no idea the Bigz dies would as well.  This means ALL of the EXCLUSIVE Stampin' Up dies that you love are compatible with the Cuttlebug!  If you have any questions concerning this let me know!

Now on to the cuteness!

I made my first clothed bears yesterday and they are stinkin' cute!  This first bear is Creamy Caramel wearing the Pawsitively Prints DSP paired with Brocade Blue, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip.  I love how these bears fit perfectly on a card!  I threw some Pumpkin Pie ribbon and an Ice Square Rhinestone brad on it to finish it off.  Isn't he cute!

I already have SO MANY IDEAS of how to use these puppies (bears)!

This little sweetie is also Creamy Caramel wearing the Pawsitively Prints DSP, Old Olive and Pretty in Pink.  I thought she looked perfect on our new Treat Boxes ! 

(I thought I'd show you the front of the box as well.  These are on my favorites list this year!)  These boxes are a wonderful size and can be used for any occasion.  They are only $3.95 for a package of 5!  You can find them on page 159 in the catalog (115690). 

I just think of all the adorable occasions these can be used.  I can't wait to come up with wedding bears!

For today's project I wanted to share a favorite of mine.  I love this layout.  I CASEd a card from the Holiday Mini catalog on page 35.

 I changed the card to Brilliant Blue, then I layered Pumpkin Pie horizontally.  I used Dimensionals on the Bashful Blue mat, and added a strip of Summer Sun CS to the bottom, I punched using the Scallop Edge punch.  I layered the sentiment over the seam.  The ribbon is 5/8" Very Vanilla that I colored Summer Sun to match.  I attached 2 brads through the cardstock in order to hold the ribbon on.  The bear and the balloon images are cut out and attached using Dimensionals.  Oh, I forgot to mention I distressed the edges of the layers and crickled the top corner.  I finished it off with a touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the balloon and party hat.

Inside I distressed the mat and crinkled the corner. I stamped-off Brilliant Blue for bear.  The little gift bag is also a part of the set.  I left just enough room for a personal message!

Build-A-Bear Girls

Good Morning!

I thought since I shared some boys yesterday, it would only be fair to show some girls today.

This first card is for my niece, who is the biggest Build-A-Bear fan I have ever met.  She has gobs of them.  Anyway, it is very pink!  It is a bit larger than normal, but will fit perfectly in a 6x6 envelope. 

I stamped party hats on a Pixie Pink card with Melon Mambo, and then used my white gel pen to add a special touch.  It's almost like creating your own papers!  (That is the reason I began stamping.) I used the Bigz Scallop Circle in my Big Shot in Melon Mambo, and added a touch of white to the scallops. I used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut the white circle I stamped the image on.  I used a 3/4" circle puch for the balloon, and used Stampin' Dimensionals on the party hat and balloon.  I added Flower Fusion with a brad to the sentiment.  I finished it off with a touch of Dazzling Diamonds on the balloon.

Inside was very quick and simple, coordinating well with the front. 

For this next card, I was trying to get away from all pink, but I don't think I was too successful.  The card is Pretty in Pink, and the mat is Rich Razzleberry.  I used the Eyelet Border punch along the edge.  I used my Blender Pen to color the image, and added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the shoes.  I added a touch of Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon,  Flower Fusion, and a Rhinestone Brad to embellish it.

The inside was very easy, but very frilly and coordinates perfectly.  My idea was that the bear would be like a watermark and you could write over it.  The flower is from the Trio Flower punch.  A bit more ribbon and a Rhinestone brad complete the look.

Build-A-Bear Boys

Good evening!

As I mentioned my Typepad editor was broken and I was having troubles all weekend.  I finally decided to submit a trouble ticket and I'm back on track.

It has been a long day!  I didn't expect so many Halloween orders!  Thank you ladies!   I have a couple kits left, before I have to wait for more supplies.  I plan on putting my order in tonight.

This is just incentive to get my Christmas classes going.  I will aim for October 1st, since I have my open house next weekend.  (I've been bad about listing my classes lately.  Hopefully I'll get them up soon.)

I am having a BLAST with the new Build-A-Bear stamps!  Check them out!

The following cards were created with the same mat sizes.  I just couldn't decide on which colors I likes, so I made one of each.  

This first one I used Old Olive, Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede.  These new In Colors are rich and bright.  I am enjoying them.  I used an Oval punchie as a base for the bear to stand on.  I love how easy these bears are to cut out.  I added a few Old Olive brads to match.  The inside is just as cute as the front!

 

 This next card is Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Bermuda Bay.  I punched all the top right corners with a corner rounder.  I added Olid Olive brads down the side.  For the words I used markers to make the two-toned, and used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to align them perfectly.  Again, the inside was quick and cute!

These projects are from a Demo shoebox swap I attended this weekend.  I love this waffle looking technique.  (I ran cardstock both ways through my crimper with even pressure, and then used a sponge to lightly ink the embossed part only.  It almost looks like designer paper.)  Oh, the balloon fits perfectly in the 3/4" circle punch as well.  I love that!  (The colors here are Soft Suede, Ballet Blue , and Certainly Celery.)

This next card is also too cute! The DSP is from the new Build-A-Bear line.  I just used markers and a blender pen to color everything.  Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig makes lining up stamps a breeze!  A touch of Real Red really pops on the blue.

Owl for Him

Quick post today.  DH is off work, and we're having a family day.

I wanted to share a fun Owly card I made for my brother a while back.  I'm sure we all struggle a bit sometimes with masculine cards.  I didn't add any embellishments and it still turned out so cute.  I used a glitter pen on the leaves; I really love Sakura's Gelly Roll.

Rainbow Sherbet Birthday

Good Morning!
I hope you all had a great weekend!  I seemed to have an uneventful weekend.  It was nice after the busy holidays to finally settle down for a minute!  I did get some stampin' done though!  I decided to add glitter to my 60 card pack I made the other day.  Hopefully I'll get those photographed to share with you tomorrow.

I am trying to use up some of odds and ends, and make some of those random projects on my list.  SO, I grabbed a band-aid tin I purchased from Oriental Trading a while back and filled it with gift tags.  The only thing I was a little dissappointed in was the boingy lid, it just wont really close.

I decided to use it for birthday tags.  I am all about keeping it simple, so I made 2 tags from one 1 3/4" x 8 1/2" strip of cardstock.  I used 4 colors for a total of 8 tags.  Other than the stamped images from DSP, all the elements came from this strip.  ( I am going to make one more and I'll get you more info!)  I just had to show it today!

I also decided to make a matching card.  They are pretty matchy-matchy, but I think the card looks pretty good!  I used a combination of stamps from Crazy for Cupcakes, Bitty Birthday, and Wow Flowers.  The cupcake image is from the Cupcakes wheel.  I used Rainbow Sherbet DSP, and watercolored Turquoise to mute the white.  I chose coordinating CS for the tags: Apricot Appeal, Green Galore, Gable Green, and Tempting Turquoise.  I kept the ribbon long enough to actually use to tie to a package. 

That's the beginning of my birthday kit!  I'll show you more this week!

Some fun ideas!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!  I am finally getting something done around here!  I'm starting off with a picture of Teresa's blog candy.  I've been bad about getting my blog candy pictures uploaded.  I decided since it was the new year, I gave her several little calendars, coasters, valentines ribbons, punchies, a few bottle caps, and a couple 3x3 card candy kits, and one I had completed.  I'll try to get my card candy samples up one of these days.  I threw in a couple cards as well!

Quick Tip #1: Alright, don't laugh but out of desperation several months ago I hot-glued these bees to my sons' wall.  (Winnie the Pooh theme)  Well, getting prepared to move, I thought I'd better clean up the mess now.  Surprisingly, there was not one blemish!  I also used hot glue on a piece of cork in my stamp room to adhere it to the wall. Again, it didn't hurt the wall!  SO if you're not sure how to get that funny thing on the wall, try hot-glue!

I grabbed the photos of my son's thank you cards from December to share.  Nothing special, just quick cards.  The bears took about an hour to cut out.  I used my Cuttlebug for a fast, fun background.  I believe it was the Spots and Dots folder.  I used Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and Whisper White CS.  The Bear is Stamped in Brocade Blue.

Quick Tip #2: I made an extra card to record all the gifts he received.  This way you have a card to scrap, and the list all in one!

This next card is a prototype I made for my son's invitation to his birthday carnival!  I thought it would be fun, but my husband talked me out of it, for now.  We have so much going on right now, and with preparing to move it will make such a large party difficult to plan.  So it will be great for next year!  I am going to take advantage of the extra time to plan! 

I made the stripes with paper, but I plan on using the Stripes background.  I used the scalloped edge punch along the awning.  I used a 1 3/8" square on the card center, pushed it all the way in, and flipped it and punched again, so it was even.  The tickets are the Designer label punch.  The ice cream cone is a Quickutz die.  The balloons are from Bitty Birthday.  I embossed the Real Red with Textured Stripes from Cuttlebug, and the background is Summer Sun.  This is one party even I am excited about!  Now back to the drawing board... I have no idea what to do for him this year!

Shadai's Tin Update

Good Morning!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  I am afraid I won't be able to post for a while.  My husband is doing updates to our computers.  I hope he completes things by the end of the weekend.  If you email me, I will check it soon and get back to you ASAP. 

I played around with the hippo card a bit.  I thought it would be really cute to add square rhinestone brads or a few flowers, but it being a boy card, I kept nixing everything.  I finally decided stars were a safe move.  I think it turned out pretty cute.   I used Starstruck and cut the stars out.  It's retiring, so get it while you can!  It's only $11.95!  I stamped them in kiwi kiss to match.  (More deets below.)

DVD TIN MEASUREMENTS

I began with a base of riding hood red measuring 5 1/4" x 7 3/8".  (Remember you'll need 2!)  I found that this size pops inside the rim, so mine aren't even adhered!  Oh, you'll need a wide corner rounder for this.  I found the Creative Memories one to fit perfectly.

Next I added the mat at the very bottom centered about 1/2" up from the bottom.  These mats measure 2 1/2" x 4".  I rounded the corners as well. You'll want a total of 12 mats this size.  The remaining 10 mats will mount on the waterfall layers.

To create the waterfall mats, first you'll want to cut them at 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".  Next, you'll want to score them along a long edge at 1/2".  This is the flap to add adhesive to.  Round the corners along the opposite edge.  You need a total of 10 of these mats.

To create the waterfall, begin with the bottom mat.  Once you adhere the photo mat to the base about 1/2" up, begin to layer the other mats about 3/8" apart.  (I used Tombo Multi Purpose adhesive, but Sticky Strip would work easily also.)

Now embellish and enjoy!

Boy oh Boy, it's lunch time!

Let me explain lunch time with a typical two year old for all of you out there who have never experienced it.  They emphasize the lunch HOUR (or TWO)!  So if all goes well, the baby is still napping and my son usually takes his time for lunch.  He loves eating with people for dinner, but lunch is his imagination time with his food.  It took a while to get used to being told to go away, but I've grown to love it!  He sits at the table and eats, while I make cards!  (Okay, I'm usually doing laundry or dishes, but not today!)  Since I already had my supplies so convenient I was able to knock out a few cards real quick!  (Normally I work in the basement, so my time is limited with the kids.)

 

Anyway, enough of my rambling.  I cased this first card.  Sorry, not sure who to give credit to.  I added a linen background.  The sentiment is from Starring You, and the inside is from the retired SU Happy Birthday set.  I punched stars in Chocolate Chip, Bordering Blue and Kiwi Kiss.  It is such a quick boy card!  Today's my dad's birthday, so I gave this one to him.

This next card should have been mailed out to one of my cousins a couple weeks ago, so it's belated.  I used Weathered background and For Father.  I know a lot of these are retired.  (Sorry!)  The ribbon and mat are Chocolate Chip and the image is in Always Artichoke.  I added a couple gold brads as a finishing touch.

This last card is for my fun little nephew!  It is definitely missing something.  I keep looking at it wanting to add bling or ribbon or SOMETHING!  I have a couple days to top it off.  I love this hippo from Pun Fun! I colored him in with Bordering Blue and Kiwi Kiss.  The card is Night of Navy, and the DSP is Maine Blueberry.  Another BOYish card.  It'll be adorable when I'm done ;)

That's it for the birthday cards!  My New Year's goal (one of them!) is to have my year of cards completed by the end of January!
