Try It Tuesday is here!

Good morning! I was up late making this project! I have had my eye on these for a long time, and have never gotten around to making them. I am SO pleased with the way it turned out! You'll never guess from first glance, but it's a Bloomin' Box! (At least I think that's what it's called.)
I decided to play around so more with my Holiday Happenings DSP. That's about all I knew when I got started. I decided to go with 4 layers: 12x12, 10x10, 8x8 and 6x6. Then I scored each evenly into 9 blocks, and removed each corner block.
Then I began embellishing each layer separately with coordinating colors: Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette and Old Olive. The largest layer I wanted to look snow-capped. (I also thought it would be cute to add some journaling on the snow later.) The next layer I added some cute flowers using my Boho Blossoms Punch and the Big Shot Birds and Blooms Die.
The next layer is my favorite! I think they look like little ornaments! All I did was punch circles with my 1 3/4" punch and add a bit of knotted ribbon to the top with a glue dot. Too cute!
The inner most layer I added a Felt Flurry with a Rhinestone Brad and some numbers covered with Dazzling Diamonds.
I worried most about how all the layers would lay together. I paid close attention to this as I designed it. The bows frame the inside layer, next the flowers add a touch of flava, with the snow around the outside! I plan on printing all the photos in b & w or sepia when I add them!
For the outside, I made band just 1/16 wider on each side, in order to hold the box shape. I'm sure it will be slightly heavier once it's finished, so 4 1/8" would be just fine. The white band is 2" wide- I cut strips 11" long and scored them. It will come together nicely. Next I cut separate strips at 4 1/16" x 1 1/2" for each of the 4 sides. I found it more versatile this way. To finish it off I cut the words with my Big Shot and the Join In the Cheer Die.
They are all joined together, so I took a few minutes to cut them apart. The snowflakes were punched in Pink Pirouette using a Martha Stewart snowflake punch. I smothered them in Dazzling Diamonds and popped it up.
The lid measures 4 1/8". I had a hard time figuring this one out! I'm not sure why my math was off, but the first lid I made was too big, and the second was too small, but the third was just right! So I started with a 6 1/8" x 6 1/8" piece of CS. Score 1" all around and snip corners to make tabs to glue under. (Again this would be good video tutorial!) Then I used my Scallop edge punch, and added a fun 3-D snowflake on top.
The snowflake was created using 2 large snowflakes cut from the Big Shot and one small one in the center. I left the first one as is, but added dimensionals along the bottom. The next snowflake I folded the stems over and added a dimensional to hold the folds in place, added more glitter and placed a dimensional between the layers.
Before layering this onto the first I added the top layer, I pierced the smallest snowflake after placing a dimensional on the bottom, and also pierced the second layer. Then I added the Rhinestone through both layers. I then layered it onto the large snowflake. Just the perfect amount of glitz!
I wish you could see it in person, it really is quite darling!
I'm off to finish up my Christmas card kit for this month! Thanks for stopping by today!
