 Good morning!

Today I thought I'd share my File Folder Organizer.

I'm going to get my calendars finished up and up for you next week.  I also want to get a few Christmas projects up for you. But first I thought I'd go back a couple years to one of my first tutorials.  When I designed this tutorial it was because there was nothing like it on the web.  Now I am finding them popping up for sale, but I have a FREE download available!

I have so many inserts available in this kit, I am going to be redoing it soon.  So get it while you can for only $5!  The price will be going up in 2011!

Birthday Bags and a Spongy Trick

Thanks for dropping by today!

My, my!  I can't stand this summer heat.  I've been joking around that it's so humid my eyeballs are fogging up!  I just got in from pulling weeds in my garden.  It's the first time I've gardened since I was young and I was so worried I'd pull out my veggies, I didn't weed it for a long time!  I've got some green beans growing and the carrots (I pulled up by accident.) are so cute and little.  I still have tons more to weed this weekend, but hopefully we'll be eating yummy fresh veggies soon!

I've been renovating my house along with this color renovation, and as I clean out my rooms I'm finding fun organization tricks.  I thought I'd share one tonight.  It's quick, easy and inexpensive!  

So my sponges always drive me crazy.  I don't have a drawer thingy that will fit my markers, so they are stored with my ink pads. (I'll get a pic later.)  Then my sponges were so mixed together in a drawer it drove me crazy when I wanted the right one.  I knew I wanted to label them.  (I think I saw that idea on Angie's site at Chic'n Scratch.)  I used my Dymo to print little name labels, but I love the color tabs! 

Anyway, I LOVE sponging, so I want them accessible, so I thought I'd give Velcro a shot and voila!  It works beautifully!  At first I was going to attach them to the side of my shelf, but the idea of a clipboard sounded wonderful!  I tried it out, and I must say I do think we have a winner! 

Seven sponges fit in a row, which bummed me out a little because I wanted to keep my groups of ten together, but all my colors will easily fit on the board.  (I'll show you what it looks like when I'm finished.)  I hope you have fun making your own!

OH MY NOTEBOOKS!

I must admit that I am an extreme LIST MAKER. 
I make a list for everything I need to accomplish.  This began back when I was a teenager.  I find that I manage my time a WHOLE lot more efficiently if I work from a list.  Somehow it is incentive when I cross something off.

I thought it would be great to have several notebooks for each subject.  One for work, one for stamp ideas, one for journaling, etc.  You get the idea.  Well, somehow all my notebooks slowly melded over the past several months.  I'm finally FED UP!  I know I have valuable information in one of these...

So, I spent part of my day ripping them apart to reorganize my thoughts.  I have gone through A LOT of changes this past year, and with plans for another baby I must get this under control now.  I was simply looking for a web address, BTW.  Oh, I did find it in the 2nd notebook. 

I do love the idea of organization.  I've tried files and notebooks and now I think I'm going back to files.  I am finding that as my business (and life in general) grows I am finding it hard to balance what to keep filed on my computer and in paper form.  I get overwhelmed wanting to do it all, and I know that isn't realistic BUT outta sight, outta mind right. 

ANYWAY, if you're reading this I appreciate it, I think I'm babbling a bit.
I found a journal entry, a quick note really amongst the rubble.  Dated 2/2/08

HYBRID

Take my love of memory keeping, my eye for detail and my knowledge of graphic design, put it together and you get what they call a hybrid scrapbooker (someone who combines digital design with real embellishments).  Simply me.  FINALLY, a word for it!  And the new term for a scrappin' stamper is called 'scrampin'  Oh yeah, I'm a HYBRID SCRAMPER! ... I guess I'm all mixed up!


I crack myself up sometimes!  I try to journal about my children regularly and sometimes feel the need to say something about myself.  TOO OFTEN we lose our selves in our devotion to others.  I think it's important to take time for yourself.

Cuttlebug Organizer

Hey!  How are you today?  I am fantastic!  Although 2008 flew by WAY TOO FAST, I am looking forward to the new year.  I think 2009 is going to be a year of clarity for me.  I feel like things got a little loopy in 2008.  My family went through some pretty big changes. Don't get me wrong, I'm always up for change, but some changes are rougher than others.  Any how, I am making big plans for this coming year! 

I am determined to clear out my baskets and get things organized.  I feel like I waste good working time cleaning up, and shifting supplies.  I saw these cute organizers on SCS and decided to make one myself.  It went together pretty quick.  I made mine while I watched Dark Knight with my hubby.   (Side note:  I thought it was a good movie!  I've heard so many mixed reviews.  For a Batman movie, I give it an A.) 

Supplies needed to make one: 

• Tin Lunch Box
• Assorted Paper, cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
• Scrap Paper, coordinating
• Tab Punch
• Label Maker (optional) I have a Dymo- love it! 
• Scissors (for labels)
• Glue of choice
• Embossing Folders, and names

I began by cutting and embossing with each folder in a different color.  I then punched tabs and laid all three pieces grouped together.  I printed 2 name labels for each group.  One to label the embossing folder, and one for the tab to go on the sample I embossed.  I had to cut most of the labels for the tabs in some way, but it went fairly quick.  I staggered the tabs for easy viewing.  They are not in any sort of order, just what looks good.

 I decided to wait to decorate the outside until I have my whole room organized, so I can make it all coordinate.

I also made extras of the paper and tabs for my future folders.  (I used my SU colors, so I also have color samples.)

One more thing... I saw this article on Yahoo about a Celestial Show.  I guess there is some fun stuff going on in the sky tonight! The article can be found HERE.

Getting Organized for '09!

Before I go to bed tonight, I thought I'd show you what I did make today.  I've been wanting to try this idea for a while and just never got around to doing it.  I must say it was worth it!  For the $2 I spent on materials, I LOVE IT!  I am going to make all things foam! (Until I hone my carpentry skills.)  Stacy (Rebel Inker) has created a wonderful Stamp Pad Holder.  For full details click here. 

I'd say (in between cooking dinner and changing diapers today) it took about 1 - 1 1/2 hours to complete.  Measuring took the most time, but I'd say my next one will twice as fast to put together.  It will hold 60  SU pads.  I want to decorate it as well, but I'm going to wait for my new room, because I want it to match the decor.

I know I should invest in the SU stamp pad holder, but I'd rather have stamps!  I was actually doing quite well using Photo boxes I purchased at Michaels for $1.50 each.  Each one holds 2 color groups (24 pads), so I was using 3 boxes total.  They are very portable this way also.  With the space in the center, it's pretty easy to grab the color you're looking for as well.  AND very easy to pick up and throw back in the box. 

I love this new idea... I can't wait to make more foam organizers.  I'll let you know what I come up with!
