Favors For The Men

Men are SO difficult to please!

Haha!  Actually I just couldn't figure out how to incorporate the sports or the tools into the shower.  It was just a difficult aspect for me, so I went the safe route.  Plants.

The theme of the shower was an organic nature/bird theme, so plants seemed to go nicely.  I would have loved to plant some in an egg shell, but I ran short on time.  SO this is what I ended up with. 

I love that these were simple and yet, who doesn't love flowers!  I plan on transplanting mine to the yard, but they are pretty in the vase as well.

I left the vases as is, but I thought about rub-ons, stencils, textured paint, stamps!  You name it, the ideas are countless. 

I added some ribbon and a thank you tag, and easy peasy a fun favor!

Another thing I love about plants is that you can use them as part of your decor for nearly any occasion!

I can't wait to show the cute Bitty Boxes I made!

We {Heart} Daddies!

Okay, so I have found couple's showers to be either super casual or dad really feels out of place.  I was looking for a good balance here and I think we achieved that.

I hate that dads don't get the honor they deserve as parents.  Men really do like to be celebrated!  So...

I did my best to incorporate daddy with these little I {heart} Daddies! picks. 

To make these I used several new products and my handy My Digital Studio.  I love how easy it is to create with!  So I printed the tags to fit in the flower centers and then sponged them a bit.  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the new Blossom Punch?!  It's my favorite!

A bit of glitter and a jewel center on the back finished it off nicely.

These were so quick and really added a nice "daddy" touch to the shower.

A Quick Hello!

Just saying hi.

I have been consumed with home school planning this week.  I went shopping today with much success found some much needed items for our classroom.  I have no idea what I'm doing, but neither does my 5 year old, which is calming.  ;)

I have been learning about how to teach.  Sight words have consumed me this week.

Island Oasis Kits

Pennant Pack Is Ready!

I finally completed my project sheets for the new pennant products.  I came up with 10 original designs for the coordinating Pennant Parade stamp set and Petite Pennant Builder punch.  I have had a blast playing around with it. 

If you show enough interest, I can design a kit, but as of now I only have a Project Sheet Pack available.

I posted my "BOO" sample project sheet.  It is one of the projects included in the pack.  The pack is a 12 page PDF including a master supplies sheet, a decorative box, 6 card designs and 4 bonus card projects.  For a total of 11 projects. 

Included in the PDF is the supply list for each project as well as cutting and assembly instructions.

Boo Sampler

Hello!

I've fallen behind again this week... but for good reason.  We had a terrible storm the other night and I'm pretty sure lighting struck our house.  Not too much damage, but our internet was fried inside and out.  The cable guy had fun with this one.  Anyway, that's what happened.  I still have yet to make up the time to work in the Shoppe, so if no more storms hit it'll be this weekend.

I thought I'd share a bit of what I'm up to.  I have been working on project sheets for Pennant Parade.  I started with 6 cards and I'm up to 10, with a box to hold them as well.  If my children cooperate I'll complete these today.

Pennant Parade Introduction

I'm back! 

Sorry, I hit a little snag. I happened to get busy with VBS a few weeks ago and then wrapping up year end projects.  Yada, yada.  So, I'm back on track and I've been working these past few days on some Shoppe items. 

So, where to start...

• I will have several packs of grab bag cards I will post tomorrow in the Shoppe. 

• I also have a super cute Island Oasis Kit I found in last year's projects.  I'll try to get these up this week as well.

 

I think Pennant Parade is so cute!

I was happy to see the Petite Pennants Builder Punch in the new catalog (page 213).  I am finding so many things to make with it, from kites to candy corn.  I think a bird would be fun too.

All day today I have been working on Pennant Parade cards.  I came up with 10 designs, and I plan of making a project sheet tomorrow. 

I will show you my favorite of the bunch today. 

 
In the new catalog on page 157 there is a new set called Pursuit of Happiness, which I LOVE!  I don't have my new order yet, so I fudged it a little on the card, but if I had this stamp, I would definitely have used it.

Anyway, I did go ahead and stamp a sentiment I do have, so here it is finished.  I adore Cottage Garden as well, and the sentiment is fun and whimsical (page 119).

Meet Me At The Coffeeshop

Things Aren't What They Used To Be

I have had a great week reminiscing with old projects.  I found over 500 cards so far that I will be have posted for sale soon.  I plan on packing up the 3-D projects next.  I thought I would just share a few of my past favorites with you this week.  :)

These were cards I designed when I first began as a demo 4 years ago.  This one was always a favorite.  I used a wheel and ink pad and made a watercolor look. It looks nice with the gold embossing.

I made my own little tags, before there were punches, lol.  It was pretty easy to do, I just embossed the words and cut them out with scissors.

This card was particularly one of my all time faves because it can be turned either way.  I used Crystal Effects on it over Pastels. 

I can't wait to get my new goodies next week!  I'm most excited about the paper, and getting my new catalog in the mail!

School Scrapbook

Okay, you deserve it!  I haven't posted many projects lately, but I've been busy at work.  Here is a peek at my latest scrapbook.

I had a client request a couple albums for her boys.  She requested basic albums with a touch of personality.  The first boy is more adventurous and the second is into sports.  I didn't want to incorpoate anything that would conflict with their own personal experiences, so I left them stylish, but simple.

I made all the 13 years pages the same layout.  The front page is to hold the graduation photo.  The top label (I erased) had the child's name printed on it.  The bottom strip is actually a pocket, with a journaling label.

I added some cork sheet cutouts to add some well-known school texture.  The color adds a touch of flair as well.

I did use my Cricut to cut a few embellishments, but everything else is Stampin' Up.  The center mat is 5x7 here, and the two side mats could be used for photos or memorabilia like a tassel.

Here is a two page spread.  I had three page color combos that I alternated.  It keeps it flowing without becoming too drab. 

On this album, I sponged the edges for an aged look.  I'm not sure if you can tell, but the stars album is glittered.

When I design a scrapbook, (after consulting with the client, of course) I think of the bigger picture first.  I look at what I want the whole album to be, then break it down by element.  For instance, I knew that I needed a title, a pocket, and a photo mat on each page.  Then I look at adding embellishments using the rule of threes.

Oh!  I almost forgot to mention that the journaling mat is actually a pocket.  This leaves room for special momentos such as report cards.  Obviously this is the a very basic school album, but now I wish I had one for me.

Travel Log

Just checking in!  I've had a long week, visiting with family, moving my room, etc.  It's hard having my stamp room apart.  Hopefully I'll get things back in order by Monday.

Mini Criss Cross Coffee Card

This is such a girlie card.  I'm thinking Starbucks is just the ticket for a sweet birthday girl. 

I am actually playing around with designs for Christmas. I can't wait for the new cattie, so I can get started!

It's difficult to see all the glitter so I took a few angles for you.

I haven't used the piercing technique in a while.  It was refreshing to get back on track this month.

The inside card is about 1/8" shorter in width which allows for extra room to add a gift card.  (It measures 2 1/4"x 3 1/4")

This mini criss-cross card measures 3"x3 1/2".  To make, you need a strip 3"x 10 1/2".  Score it at 3 1/2" and 7".  You then need to cut the outside panels at a diagonal.  I used these dimensions in order to get 2 out of a page, or 4 from a 12x12 sheet.

Comfort of Coffee

I adore a good cup a joe.  Coffee is right up there with stamping.  ;)

Anyway, I have been playing around with some designs for Christmas.  Yes, I am already planning Christmas!

I meant to get these posted a couple days ago, but sadly, one of my favorite people I've ever known had passed.  My cousin, by marriage, at 30 years old after 3 transplants lost his battle with cystic fibrosis.  He was an amazing man, and loved by all who knew him. 

Anyway, tonight I'm playing catch up for you.  :)

This first card is one of my favorite.  I hate sometimes that you can't see how cute these are in person.  The texture and dimension just makes this card.  I roughed the edges to distress it.  I'm not tyically a pastel person, but this is a good spring set. 

The inside has a pocket to insert a gift card, note, or photo.  Personally, I am thinking Starbucks.  ;) 

Next I made a quick card with layers and paper piercing. I added a few pearls for that 'pop'.

The inside is just as simple as the front.

This card I love.  It is simple.  The scallop circle is one of my favorite.  The ribbon adds such a softness.

Another scallop card with a touch of glitter and a few dimensionals make it simply fun.  This would be a great design for any girl- ice cream, flowers, baby or butterflies come to mind.

I made the inside to mimic the front to add some quick cuteness.

A Slice of Life

Sail Away

Summer is here!  Wow it's been hot out.  I here we're going to be tipping 100 here this week.  That's Kansas weather I guess.  By Friday it'll be back in the 70s.

This is another gorgeous swap card.  Mine may not be quite as nice as the original, but I tried.  I love the thought of sailing.  Being in the midwest, we don't have a whole lot of that. The sun was made by sponging ink inside a mask.

Proud Peacock

Quick post tonight.  I am currently rearranging some rooms.  My boys decided to share a room, so I have extra space.  We are wanting one more baby, so I have quite a bit of stuff and I decided to make an "un"baby room for when friends come over until we need the space. 

I thought I'd share a swap I received on Saturday.  This is Proud Peacock from the new Summer Mini Catalog (pg 14)  It's a fun little set. 

I don't know how well you can see the coloring, but there is some Dazzling Diamonds on it to make it sparkle.

Haha!  I have no idea what to title my posts sometimes- just being goofy.

I'll take a break from this set soon.  I just couldn't help it.  I loved the way this one turned out.  It is actually pretty simple and elegant for sure. 

The box at the bottom was stamped on the back, and cut out so that it matches the box perfectly.  All I did was make sure the ink was on the back before layering the sentiment.

Just Believe

Happy May! 

Hey ladies!  I hope you're all having a blessed Sunday.  I have been loving this weather.  I actually got my first sunburn of the season a couple days ago.  My nose looks like Rudolph. 

I like Just Believe so much, I've been making quite a few cards with it.  I am thinking I should make a kit using it.  It's been a long time since I've offered kits. 

This first card has Dazzling Diamonds glitter on it, but it doesn't photograph well.  I also added a couple rhinestones to it to balance the bling. 

I made two color combos here.  I think I like the subtles card better myself.  What's your favorite?  I sponged the edges with White ink to add a soft look.  A couple pearls and you've got a quick, cute card!

Summer Swap

I had a great time this morning at our group shoebox swap.  Thank you Shelly!

My swap is a little box pouch thing.  I couldn't quite decide what to call it today.  It is pretty easy to make, and great for sweet treat, bath salts, tea bags, etc.  I love this size pouch.  It fits the small cello bags (pg 170).

Instructions:

• Cut strip 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". 
• Score at 2", 2 1/2", and 5 1/2".
• Fold pouch over.  Punch a hole for the bag in the top.
• Attach velcro inside pouch.
• Embellish.

I like adding a greeting inside as well.

These are great favors, as you get 3 out of a sheet.

Sweet Blossoms

When I saw this image in the Easter Blossoms set I just had to get it.  Not quite an Easter card, but definitely springy. 

I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake to add the vintage look.  I'm indifferent on the pearls on the corner.  Maybe they should be larger.  The butterfly balances out the white ribbon.  And I just love this new Framed Tulips embossing folder; I was able to emboss the card front, instead of layering it.

One Layer Garden

Hello!

I am rocking through thank you cards.  This is another favorite of mine, Cottage Garden (pg 107).  This card doesn't do the set justice.

I decided to stamp a background instead of layering.  I used the white gel pen to add dimension.  It was difficult to capture the depth here with it being such a light card. The butterfly sort of pops, you know.

I had a great day with my kids.  I love the excitement they share, as everything surprises them.  My boys were eating lunch after church and my 5 year old says sadly, "I think the Easter bunny forgot to come to our house."  I hadn't put the baskets out yet.  I have such a hard time with when to give them to them because they are so little, its a distraction getting ready in the morning.  Any suggestions?

Cottage Garden Gift

This is my first milk carton project.  I am excited to use this some more.  It is great for favors and treats.  It measures about 1 1/2" wide x 4" tall.

I just used a little clip to hold it closed at the top.  I went ahead and glued the bottom, but I'm wondering if there's a way to leave it open?

2 Tags Birthday Box

Hey friends!

Sorry about the delay.  I ended up having surgery April 1st and it slowed me down a bit.  I am recovering well and excited to share some Summer Mini goodies. 

I thought I'd share my last swap with you today.  These darling boxes are pretty simple to make, and are such a fun idea for favors and small gifts.  They measure about 3"x2"x2". 

   
Instructions:

• Cut:  To make you will need 2 pre-cut tags, and 2 pieces of CS measuring 2 1/2" x 2 3/4". 
• Score:  The box is 2" tall, so you will need to score the side pieces 1/2" on both of the 2 3/4" sides, and on one of the 2 1/2" sides.
• Assemble:  Glue the two-tags bottoms together.  Attach the side tabs, leaving the bottom flap to fold in.  Fold Box up and glue bottom first, and then remaining sides.  Gently push in to crease sides in order to tie box top together. 

(I hope this makes sense.  Let me know if you have questions.)

Then you embellish!  I think these are great for so many occasions.

Happy Birthday To Me!

I was so happy to find a card from Stampin' Up in the mail today.  Ironically today is my husband's birthday, mine's not for a few days.  This was a very nice surprise. 

This card was created using My Digital Studio software.  I love updated downloads available and can't wait to get more.  The Rhinestone on the I just adds the right amount of bling. 

One more reason I love being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator!

Birdie Occasions Swaps

I was sad to miss the Shoe Box Swap this month, but I did get to participate.  I'm not sure who created all of them, but I do love them all! 

I love birds, and I love the Nature Walk set in the Occasions Mini. 

The lattice background makes this card.  The pearls on the tag also add a fresh touch.

Science Lab Party

I just held my son's 5th bithday party and it was a riot! 

He had asked me for a science party, which has to be one of the more difficult parties I've ever thrown.  The kids all had a blast.  (All 18 of them!)  Call me crazy, having that many children in one room, but it went well.

This is invitation I designed.  There's not a whole lot to do with science, but I'll add a photo album of the party once I get the pics edited.   I free-handed the bottles, and used my white gel pen to make bubbles.  The wire was just an old scrap I had.

Lovey Dovey

A nice way to come back.  This card I made for my bro-sis for their anniversary.  I love this paper from the Occasions Mini.  I'll be sad to see it go next week.  The stamp is retired (Many Happy Returns) but it was too fitting.  The pearls are a nice way to polish it off.

Crittermas Cider

Merry Crittermas!  I am back on track for Christmas!  I am excited to hopefully finish up cards tonight- cutting it close this year. 

I used Merry Crittermas (again) on this card.  I just love this set. 

Holly Jolly DSP is layered under the image and finished it off with a touch of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding.  These cards are simple to make.  Here is a side shot so you can see how I scored it.

I always like to throw a little somethin' somethin' in my cards, and this year I decided to do drinks since I'm short on time.  I have cider packets, cocoa and tea.

Inside is also stamped with Merry Crittermas.  Isn't that just a cute little bird!

Baby Shower Favors

Good Evening!  I'm still trying to gather all the shower stuff together while I juggle Christmas and birthdays.  We celebrate two more tomorrow, and then have dinner plans!  Haha!  And I signed up to help with breakfast at church Sunday.  I hope I make it through tomorrow! 

Anyway, I saw this darling idea somewhere and decided to try it.  It's a prayer bracelet.  I think the poem explains it sufficiently.  Somehow with the help of my MIL we got these done pretty quickly.  I made 30 and have a few left over.  The bracelets costs around fifty cents each.  Not too bad! 

I will find my PDF for the prayer as well at some point.  But this is what it says:

'Little Blessing' Prayer Bracelet

A little trinket for you to wear, as a reminder for your prayer.

God's little blessing is on the way, now we just ask that you pray

for a healthy, sweet baby girl that is about to come into our world.

A little cheesy, but I needed something that was short and to the point so it would fit inside the tag.

Blessed Season

Good afternoon!

I'm sorry I was MIA the past couple days.  I guess its the season.  I still can't believe Christmas is in a week!  Yikes!  I have a huge to do list.

I am excited about the projects I'm working on for 2011.  I am going to wait until after the first of the year to share though.  :O

Anyway, today I thought I'd share The same card I made for Thanksgiving, but for Christmas. 

This card is so elegant with the border.  The color in the background is actually a stamped off Cherry Cobbler and then stamped off Crumb Cake.  It makes a beautiful worn look.

Again, check out my Thanksgiving post for more info on easel cards.  You can see I varied the angle a bit, but they both fold nicely.

Oh Baby - Part 1

I wanted to post more today but I was on a roll cleaning out my stamp room.  I wanted to gather all my little projects up for you, but this eye candy will have to do for today.

I saw this idea a long time ago and I finally got arount to making it.  The only thing I would change is to add a 'Baby Sleeping' at the bottom. 

This idea is so adorable I will be offering kits soon.  (It's on the list!)

Owl Be Home For Christmas!

Hey there!  Quick post tonight.  I had this punch for a while before I actually used it.  It is actually not bad to glue all those pieces together.  I'm thinking when I have time I'll put together an owl card kit.  I do want to work on getting a video made first.

These owls are perfect for Jumbo Paper Clips.  I just punched 2 bodies out and threw one on the back.  These little guys are about 1 1/2" tall and make great bookmarks or coupon clips, etc.

I wanted to show you easy you can punch these to match any paper.  This first group is made with Deck The Halls DSP.

This group of owls displays the Holly Jolly DSP.  I left it a little dark so you could see the very vanilla owl.

Jolly Old St. Nick

Good evening!

I am working on my Christmas cards this week.  I cannot believe Christmas is in 2 weeks!  We are going to take the boys to see Santa tomorrow and get our family photo taken.  Then put up our Christmas tree.  I can't believe how behind I am this year.  With friends passing and sick children it's been a wild couple months. 

This is Old St. Nick.  I love the classic look of the set.  I couldn't pass up a sweet santa like this.  I used a blender pen to color his face with a tad bit of red ink. 

I wanted to make the card resemble a belt buckle with the Champagne Glass Glitter as the buckle.  It is more abstract than I had hoped, but it turned okay I guess. I added Dazzling Diamonds to his hat, but I think it may be a bit much.

Back with a Bunny!

Sorry it's been a few days.  I had SO many parties to attend.  I even hosted a couple.  Monday was my son's birthday and the poor thing caught the flu.  Being only 3 he doesn't understand that he's still 3 even with the party post-poned.  Happy to say we're all healthy today! 

I am trying to be prepared for these things, but I keep being caught off guard.  Anyway, more Merry Crittermas today.  I do love this set.

This card is actually fairly simple.  When I embossed the background, I actually did two identical pieces and flipped it so snowflakes cover the whole background.  I couldn't resist adding a little glittered snowflake to the top either.

The band slides off real easy and I like to just stand it up in front of the open card.  I think it's a cute display. 

Inside I embossed with snowflakes again.  I also added some glitter spray using my Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol concoction. 

If you'd like to try this card the measurements are as follows:

• Card Base (Baja Breeze)  5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8
• Inside layer (Whisper White) 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 to allow embossing on both sides
• Front Panels (Whisper White) 1 7/8 x 5 1/8 (need 2 of these)
• Wrap Around Band (Not Quite Navy) 1 x 11, scored at 3 1/8 and 7 7/16 ( just under 7 1/2)
• Bunny Mats:  (Whisper White: 2 x 2 1/2)  (Not Quite Navy: 2 1/4 x 2 3/4)  (Baja Breeze: 2 1/2 x 3)

Beaver Greetings!

Hey there!

I hope you're on your way to Christmas!  I wanted so badly to do a countdown this year, but time just doesn't permit right now.  Perhaps I can fit in a 12 days of Christmas. 

I have ANOTHER Merry Crittermas to share today.  I've had too much fun with this set.  You should get it before it retires January 3rd!  It's available in the Holiday Mini (page 39, Item #121181, $17.95 for clear mount or $23.95 for wood mount).

It was hard to capture the feel of this card.  All the depth and layers really work well together; the Dimensionals and Pearls are balanced in 3's.

I really wanted to add glitter to this card, but I didn't want to over do it in the end.  I used a Blender Pen to color the image. 

I am hoping you can see some of the depth here.  I used my 3/4" circle punch to create a border along the bottom edge.

Lovely Bells

Quick post this morning.  I am having a wonderful morning.  I'm feeling good and want to clean my house.  Maybe it's knowing snow is on the way.  Or that my children are not fighting.  Anyway, I'm excited for a productive day.

This card was one I played with for a while.  It's pretty simple, but I had trouble with the folded flap.  First I put ribbon on it, then I decided I like the DSP look better.  Now I don't know.  LOL  It's just a card.

I embossed the bells and cut them out.  This image really isn't difficult to cut.  I used the Pinking Hearts Border punch and a few pearls for a finishing touch. 

I like to dress up the inside of my cards.  This one was easy to do with a bit more DSP (which shows on the outside too!)  I stamped a couple hollies in Always Artichoke, but I stamped off first. (Stamping off simply means I stamp on scratch paper first to lighten the image.)

'nother critter - 'nother easel

Good evening!

Wow!  It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The weather is cold today and blustery!  Snow is on the way.  I have to admit I've been anxiously awaiting a fireside cuddle with my DH.

I have a cute little easel card like the one I made for Thanksgiving, but it's a different size.  I'll think about getting some measurements gathered up for you. 

I used my favorite Christmas set of the year, Merry Crittermas.  It's in the Holiday Mini.  That catalog only runs through the end of the year if you want it!  It's an easy one to color and cut out. 

I also used the Glitter Brads from the mini, and they will carry over.  I just ordered more.  The holly leaves are an old die I had.  I scored the centers to make them look more rustic.

A Flower For All Seasons

Hello!

It's been a busy day.  My hubby travels for work sometimes and I have to hold down the fort with 2 boys.  I am almost ready to begin my after Thanksgiving diet.  LOL Until my after Christmas diet kicks in.  ;)

This card is simple and so cute in person.  I think I'll add it to my set pile. The tiny pearls on the flowers really pop with the understated background. 

There are two layers of dimensionals that add a lot of depth.  I had to really hold back from adding ribbon.  But it really does have an elegant look.  Don't you think?  A little trick I used for this look was layering the same color mats on top of each other.
